The Tsunami of An Aging Population
The numbers say it all. Here in the United States, the population of people over 65 will go to nearly 80 percent when the Baby Boomers retire between 2010 and 2030. After that, our oldest generation will account for 20 percent of Americans. Did you also know that people over 85 are the fastest growing segment of the U.S. population?
Plus, we’ve all moved around the country, and grown up children are not often not available to pitch in with the moving process, due to time, space, money and younger family obligations. Sometimes it’s just a question of being too far away.
As some seniors have no surviving children, or as we’ve seen, their children are older themselves, and not up for the challenge of packing, loading and sorting. If illness or death prompts the move, family members are likely already exhausted both emotionally and physically. That’s when help is needed. Senior Moves grew to fill these needs and to help the process for all concerned.
If the move is something that comes after residing in a home for 30 to 50 years, there’s a complex need to organize, preserve, and distribute family belongings and mementos. An estate has deep meaning for the one who’s collected it, and Senior Moves helps this process by cataloging, sorting, and organizing the elements involved.
That’s why it’s important to seek the help of experienced, insured professionals and call a Senior Move Manager®.
