PRICING

What are your rates?

It’s virtually impossible to calculate what a specific move might cost, as the fee can vary considerably by area of town and the services requested.  Additionally, sometimes SeniorMoves will charge fees on an hourly basis, while other times we will package the cost of the entire job at one price.  Rest assured that SeniorMoves will always outline the cost of a job through a written estimate before you are required to submit payment.  Our intake specialist would love to discuss your personal situation.

Why do you call Senior Move Managers® Senior Advocates?

A Senior Advocate has more experience working with the senior population than a traditional Senior Move Manager.  They generally have held an entire career working in the senior care industry and take on the role as Senior Advocate as a second career in life so that each have senior-specific training above and beyond the requirements for move management.

Do you provide certified Senior Move Managers®?

All of our Senior Advocates either have a certification or are working toward the certification for Senior Move Manager with the NASMM.

Do you provide other downsizing services not on the website?

Yes.  Not all families need the same services.  We try to help people determine their general need by grouping and listing services that most families will need.  In our first consultation, we will spend time understanding the exact needs of your family and mobilizing necessary support to overcome the emotional or physical barrier.

Will I have access to my Senior Advocate via the phone or online?

Yes.  Senior Advocates are directly available by phone or email to the Clients and their families.

How is SeniorMoves.org different from a regular movers services??

SeniorMoves.org connects you directly with Senior Move Managers, moving companies, real estate agents, and other moving professionals who are vetted to work with seniors. There is no cost to you. Moving later in life is different than other age groups because it always means downsizing, and may involve multiple agencies, suppliers, estate agents, and vendors.  Additionally, the physical work involved in a move usually out-paces the physical abilities of the Client requiring them to depend on others for help.

Is there is fee for our first consultation?

Yes a deposit is required.  In order to ensure appointments are kept, we ask for a $50.00 deposit when scheduling your first 60-90 minute in-home consultation. 100% of this fee is applied to contracted services.  We will use this time the better understand the exact needs and desired of the Client and their family, provide you suggested Plan of Action and an estimate of cost.

I am paying for my parent(s) to move, so who is the Client?

Our “Client” is always the moving individual.  Care and concern for their best interest and desires are at the heart of our advice and actions.  If a Power of Attorney is part of your families situation, we have a way to handle that too.

Can my parents downsize and still live in the same house?

Yes.  In fact as many as 80% of American’s report wanting to stay in their existing home as long as possible.  This is why we have developed “Senior Safe Assessments” and Contractor Management services to help families improve the safety of the family home.

Are Senior Advocates employees or contractors?

All of our Senior Advocates are full-time or part-time employees of SeniorMoves.  In addition to having more control on the quality of services, this allows us to insure and bond their individual services under our policies.

Are you fully insured for liability and workers' compensation?

Yes.  We carry $1,000,000 in Liability Insurance for our work on site as well as damage protection in the unlikely event that an item we pack or handle, becomes damaged.  Additionally we have a $10,000 Performance Bond for the work we do perform so you can rest assured we will complete the job as advertised.

Common Questions

WHAT IS SENIOR LIVING?

Gone are the days when “retirement housing” was just a nice way of saying “nursing home.” Today, many different senior living options exist, yet many older adults and their families are not aware of the choices. We can help connect you to the best resources in your area.

Spending and Saving

LIVING EXPENSES

Some Assisted Living facilities stratify costs along three or four levels of care, with all costs of care included in the monthly fee. Although the components of each level of care vary from facility to facility, some basic guidelines do exist. Ask us for the details.

How We Can Help

THE LIVING PLAN

Most Senior Move Managers can provide you with a customized floor plan of your new residence. A floor plan will help you determine the pieces of furniture that will fit in your new home, and the best location of each.

HOME VS INDEPENDENT LIVING COMMUNITIES

In our current economy, many individuals are reluctant to move because of a perceived or real decrease in the value of their home. Most equate staying at home as “free.” However, numerous, “hidden” costs are associated with remaining at home, even with a fully paid mortgage.

The table right compares amenities you currently pay versus what you would (in most cases) find included in your rent at a community. Include any additional costs not listed that you may currently pay to gain a better understanding of where you stand, versus the cost of living in a community.
